AIMS & OBJECTIVES
Our principle mission is to enable the residents in our care to maintain a high quality of life through:
- Compassion
- Activity
- Respect
- Encouragement
We aim to care for the whole person, meeting their physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs.
We actively encourage the involvement of family and friends in helping our residents to attain their goals.
SPECIALIST DEMENTIA CARE
Our dementia care sees the person, not just the dementia and recognizes each resident as a unique individual. We aim to provide personal comfort, safety and fulfillment with the minimum of restriction. By getting to know the person and their life experience, we aim to find the meaning behind behaviour and therefore reduce frustration and promote well-being. We employ an appropriate number of staff who receive ongoing expert professional training and support through our involvement with the FITS project (Focused Intervention Training and Support) as developed by the Alzheimer’s Society in conjunction with the University of Worcester.
HIGH QUALITY END OF LIFE CARE
We aim to provide a true home for all of our residents and we understand that for some people it is important to remain in their home when they are approaching the end of their life. Through our training and development with the support of the North Devon Hospice and the completion of The Six Steps programme, we are proud to offer personalised care that meets our residents and their loved ones needs, wishes and preferences during this difficult time.
