Day Care: An Introduction

Those living in their own homes can find it difficult to access the right stimulation and support. Day care offers this to older adults along with activity and social opportunities.

Pilton House is a Georgian mansion set in beautiful landscaped grounds with its own access to the Rotary Gardens. The home provides person-centred residential care for 28 individuals and offers day care places during the week to those living in the community.

Our sessions are held each weekday for over 65’s from 10am-4pm.

Assessment

An initial assessment takes place prior to day care sessions being offered. This is usually at Pilton House combined with an opportunity for a cup of tea, a chat and a tour of the home.

If our service meets your needs and a place is available, you will be offered a day care member agreement which outlines the terms and conditions of the services offered. This document will be discussed with you in full and any representatives you wish to have present.

Aims

At Pilton House, our focus is on supporting individuals to be as independent and active as possible. Day care can help bridge the gap between living in your own home and the transition to moving into a residential home.

Those who attend can socialise with our residents, take part in activities, enjoy events in the home such as musical entertainment and receive assistance with needs to promote physical health and well-being.

Our Team

Our team of trained and experienced staff are committed to ensuring that all who come to Pilton House are supported with respect and dignity. The individuals choices, wants and wishes are at the heart of the care provided. All staff receive specialist dementia care training and are champions for those who require their support.

Meals

Day care sessions begin at 10am, just in time for a cup of tea and a slice of toast! A two course main meal is served at 12.30pm. The menu is varied and seasonal with locally sourced produce. We are able to cater for special diets and are fully compliant with allergen legislation. Snacks and drinks are available any time throughout the day.

Activities

Our full time Activities Co-ordinators have many years experience in the care and support of the elderly, particularly with those with dementia. Often assisted by volunteers or work experience students, the activities team ensure that a full programme of sessions are available. These include arts and crafts, flower arranging, puzzles, crosswords, bingo, pet therapy, quizzes, film afternoons with ice cream and popcorn and music activities. For those who do not wish to take part, there are plenty of opportunities for a walk in the gardens, a cup of tea and a chat!

Reminiscence

At Pilton House we love to know the people who come to visit us. What better way than to create a life story or memory box to share with others or simply record the significant events in your life. If you wish to write your life story please let us know.

Care & Support

All day care members are offered assistance with a bath or shower as they wish. The care team are able to provide full assistance and a range of equipment is available to ensure safety and comfort. Pamper sessions are also available and we have a hairdresser who visits the home every Monday.
