18th March 2020
Due to guidance from Public Health England and following the Prime Ministers statement on Monday 16th March, we have had to take the difficult but necessary decision to close Pilton House to visitors.
Our priority is the health of all who live and work here and the measures are in place to protect everyone. We understand how difficult it is for our residents and for family and friends to have visits restricted in this way. Please be assured that in the coming days as well as telephone calls, we will be enabling video calls/Skype and supporting residents to write letters.
Life in the home continues to run as usual – albeit quieter. Our residents are well, our staff are amazing and the activities and key-working have been increased. We know that we cannot replicate the visits that you have with your loved ones, but we are doing everything we can to ensure that their emotional well-being is promoted during these difficult times.
I would like to say a very special thank you to those of you who have been so supportive; not only of our strategy in managing this situation, but also personally to the team and I. We have been inundated with offers of supplies, door-step deliveries, meals and assistance with administrative tasks. We cannot thank you enough and it means so much to us all.
Every member of our wonderful team is committed to supporting the residents, each other, the organisation and you as family members and friends.
Pilton House is proud to be a home from home; a relaxed environment where all who come through its doors (as residents, staff or visitors) are cared for, loved and valued – so many of you have spoken of this in recent days. We are confident that this is what will guide us through the coming weeks and months.
Please do not hesitate to contact us for any updates or with any queries.
